UTHAAN

The SVIMS Annual Inter-Collegiate Fest.

The theme for this year’s UTHAAN was “SKY IS THE LIMIT” with the catchy slogan Arise, Awake, Achieve.  UTHAAN 2K24 was held on 16th and 17th February 2K24 with the usual exuberance, fanfare and gaiety.

The festival began with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony by the Trustees, followed by the welcome address by the Director of SVIMS, Dr Purshottam Patil. A cluster of balloons were released to metaphorically indicate that SKY IS THE LIMIT for those who are industrious and sincere in their efforts. Mrs. Padmaja Banwasi, Hon. Secretary of NKES declared the festival open.

There was overwhelming response for all the outdoor and indoor events. Outdoor events like Box cricket, Kabaddi, Tug of war, volleyball, and rink football attracted many teams from different colleges across Mumbai. We could see the keen competition among different teams and there was more than enough evidence of sportsman-spirit among the teams. As regards the indoor events, games like chess, carom, BGMI attracted good deal of participation. For the more intellectually inclined there was CET Challenge and a debate competition and here we could witness the debating prowess on topics that were contemporary. The Institute being situated in the financial capital of the country, an event like Mock-stock competition is perfectly in order. This event too attracted a large number of participants.

For the musically inclined, the singing competition was an event to look forward to. The rappers did a great job with their off-beat show. The event that really got the adrenalin pumping was the dance competition – the audience was literally on its feet. The fashion show had social messages as a theme- messages that are relevant in the present day.

The Chief guest for the Valedictory function was Ms. Sabina Gupta who is an entrepreneur herself. She runs a business that goes by the name Not Just Desserts. She spoke about her own experiences and encouraged students to start their own ventures.

The winners were given trophies, cash prizes and certificates by the Trustees, Director of SVIMS and the Senior faculty.

The show was anchored by the students very efficiently.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof Ganapati Kattige.

The two-day event ended with the singing of the National anthem.
