Seminar By Mr.Pinakin Dave

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research & SVIMS Business School organised a one-day Seminar on Evolution of Commodities Derivative Markets & Gold –Asset Class on 16 th July 2022 at the Seminar Hall. Around 100 students both MMS & PGDM, faculties, trustees were present in the entire session. Session focused on evolution of commodities, discussion of different asset classes and more. The programme started at 11.45 am with the welcome address of our Director Dr. Purshottam Patil. The dignitaries on the dais were Mr. Pinakin Dave (Guest of honour), Dr. Purshottam Patil, Mr.Shashikant Joshi, Mrs. Bhavani Bhargav and Dr. Vasumathy Hariharan.

Opening address and introduction of the seminar was given by our Director Dr. Purshottam Patil, who gave us a brief introduction about the Institute, its values and highlighted our students’ achievements in terms of Campus Placements. Later, Ms. Nevin Mathew from MMS 1 st year batch gave a brief introduction about the Guest Speaker Mr Pinakin Dave (Additional General Manager at BSE Mumbai), his overall experience, achievements and expertise in the field of Financial Markets. Felicitation of the Guest Speaker Mr. Pinakin Dave was done by our Hon. Secretary of NKE Society Mr Shashikant Joshi.

Mr. Pinakin Dave gave lecture on Commodities markets, its evolution and discussed about different asset classes in Indian & global markets. Session started with few basic questions on Asset classes and commodities market. He highlighted the investment opportunities in Commodities segment globally. Evolution of BSE as an exchange was explained thereafter.He also explained about different commodities exchange worldwide. Some of the major subtopics discussed were types of Investors in market, Spot market, future market, Hedging,Lehman Crash.

After the lecture, Mr Pinakin Dave conducted a Q&A session with our students wherein students raised their doubts, queries about the Commodities markets which was cleared very precisely by the Guest Speaker. Lastly, Mr. Gurunarayan Pandey student of MMS first year batch proposed the Vote of Thanks which led to an end to the Seminar Session.
