Topic: ‘Forex Business in India’

 

Mr. Prashant Shetty, Vice President, Transcorp Enterprises Limted, , conducted a ‘Samarth Seminar’ to address our SY MMS & PGDM students on the topic ‘Forex Business in India’.  Sir focussed on the importance of Forex business in the lives of people from different backgrounds and shared his story and experience being an industry veteran from last 30 years. Students who had done their Summer Internship at Transcorp Enterprises Limited were given a chance towards the end of the session to share their learnings, experience and their feedback about the company.

Topic: ‘Campus to Corporate: Things that matter!’.

 

CA Pankaj Thakkar, Founder-Unistar India, had been invited for a ‘Samarth Seminar’ to address our SY MMS & PGDM students on the topic ‘Campus to Corporate: Things that matter!’.  Many organizations find young professionals unemployable because they lack the necessary skills to become employable.  SIr Focussed on the importance of becoming expert in your field of study and importance of persevering while doing what you have decided to do.

Mr. Ajimon Francis, MD, Brand Finance- India, had been invited for a ‘Samarth Seminar’ to address our SY MMS & PGDM students on the topic ‘Changing landscape in Brand Strategy – need for multi-disciplinary understanding for MBA pass outs in this current market situation’. Students learnt about the basic metrics required for a business to succeed and realized the importance of multidisciplinary approach for their career growth in future.

Topic: ‘Budget 2024 and its impact on the common man’.

CA Vimal Ashar, Founder, VK Ashar & Associates conducted a ‘Samarth Seminar’ to address our SY MMS & PGDM students on the topic ‘Budget 2024 and its impact on the common man’.  Sir highlighted the important points from the budget and made students realize the importance of spending mindfully. The session was an eye opener on how much money can be saved if we limit our desires and eliminate the fear of missing out.

Resource Person: Confederation of Indian Industries – Young Indians (CII Yi)

Topic: “Mental Health”

 

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SVIMS) and Confederation of Indian Industries – Young Indians (CII Yi) together held a talk on the topic “Mental Health” on 2nd March, ’24, organised for its MMS and PGDM students, faculty members and staff members.

The resource persons for this talk on Mental Health were, One – the eminent & noted Psychiatrists & Psychotherapist Dr. Ruksheda Syeda founder of Trellis Family Centre, and President of the Bombay Psychiatric Society; Second – Ms. Atisha Dodeja, Chair CII Yi & a certified career counsellor. They were welcomed by the SVIMS Director, Dr. Purshottam Patil.

Dr. Ruksheda spoke on Emotional, Psychological and social well-being. The early diagnosis, interventions and rehabilitation of the same. While Ms. Atisha Dodeja spoke how students should make career choices and safeguard their future.

This talk was cheered and applauded by the students of MMS & PGDM of SVIMS & SVIMS Business School, the faculty members and staff members. At the end of the session there were a whole lot of questions which were answered well by the two panelists. It was a much need session for all with sharing of live experiences from panelists to audience.

Topic:”The attitude of Management trainees towards changing corporate life”

 

Sir M Visvesvarya Institute of Management studies organized a Samarth series seminar on “The attitude of Management trainees towards changing corporate life.” on January 20, 2024 in the seminar hall. 

The session encouraged the students positively which fosters expertise and engaging teaching style which resulted into learning experience truly valuable. The session focused on continuous learning, action learning, understanding organizational values and the initiatives, willingness to learn, commitment, discipline, and integrity are expected from the students.

The session provided a deep understanding of the corporate life structure and its description in understanding the real values. It not only concentrated on the levels of hierarchy but also it focused on pivotal role of HR in the selection process of an employee.

The session also highlighted some important skills such as taking initiative, learning agility, effective communication, networking, analytical skills, digital proficiency, and organizational skills which are crucial for success in a corporate environment.

It was a pleasure for all of us at to host Dr.Jagmohan Singh Rishi, Vice President – Global L&D and Digital Strategy – Wockhardt. on 14th October 2023 for an enriching and enlightening session on ” Impact of AI and digital technology on future job scenarios and careers – How it will impact today as well as tomorrow’s Managers across Corporate functions.

Topic: “Transfer Pricing Opportunities”

We arranged a Seminar on “Transfer Pricing Opportunities by Ms Bhavya Goyal CA, Managing Partner at BBG Tax & Legal Advisors LLP. Ms. Goyal is an expert on the subject and she works with many corporates within India and abroad. The 

The Seminar started at 11.00 am with  Saraswati Vandana, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Prof G.Mani delivered the welcome address. Our Director, Dr Purshottam Patil felicitated the speaker Ms. Goyal.

Ms Goyal spoke about the concept of transfer pricing and its importance in world trade and commerce and in international finance. 

The students were enthralled by the session and there was a Q & A session which was very lively.

The seminar ended with a vote of thanks delivered by MMS student Ms.Ishwari Patil. Ms.Aditi Kamble efficiently anchored the seminar.

Topic: “Fintech and employment opportunities”

 

Sir M Visvesvarya Institute of Management studies organized a Smartha series seminar on the “Fintech and employment opportunities” on December 16, 2022 in the seminar hall. The seminar focused on how the employment under the Fintech and opportunities. The programme started at 9:00 am with the welcome address by Ms. Aditi Kamble. The seminar started with the Saraswati vandana and seek the blessing of Saraswati maa.

Introduction and warm welcome to our guest Mr. Jitin babu was given by the Ms. Pratiska. Our director Dr. Patil felicitate the guest Mr. Jitin Babu. The seminar started with the introduction about the fintech by the guest. Mr. Jitin gave us the information about the Fintech and opportunities that bring in the market. The session talked about various sector that are using the fintech.

Mr. Jitin Babu gave us the information on which skills are required to work in fintech. The session was very interactive session where student was clearing their doubt. Many students asked question. The student learned about the fintech and it the application.

The programme wrapped up around 10:30 am. The vote of thanks which was given by Mr. Bijo Babu. After the programme ended many students went to the Mr. Jitin to ask more question.

Topic: “Opportunities available in BFSI space”

 

The seminar started with Saraswati Vandana. Prof Dr Shakti Awasthi delivered the welcome address.

The speaker was felicitated by Mr Ananth Banwasi, Trustee, National Kannada Education Society (NKES).

Mr Salil Thanawala, the guest of honour spoke about the opportunities available in BFSI space. He outlined the qualities that required to rise up the corporate ladder in this sector which has become extremely competitive.

He exhorted the students to put down their aspirations in writing and to evaluate themselves against the industry benchmark. He strongly advised the students to connect with industry veterans using LinkedIn.

The session ended with a brief question-answer session. The students participated enthusiastically in the event.

Ms Anita Charles of MMS 2022-24 batch anchored the programme. Mr Adnan Mapari of MMS 2022- 24 delivered the vote of thanks.

Topic: “Brainstorm about the future growth path of the three main streams- Human Resources, Finances and Marketing.”

The seminar started with Saraswati Vandana. Prof Gangadharan Mani presented the welcome address.

The speaker was felicitated by Dr Purshottam Patil, Director, National Kannada Education Society’s Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SVIMS).

Mr Rashmikant, the guest of honour asked the students to form teams of 10-12 and to brain-storm about the future growth path of the three main streams- Human Resources, Finances and Marketing and to put down their views about the shape of things to come in the next 3-5 years in these areas.

The teams were asked to make their presentations.

It was an engaging session and students from marketing and HR streams came up with some creative ideas.

The session ended with a brief question-answer session. The students participated enthusiastically in the event.
