Industrial Visits

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research organized a domestic Industrial Visit for MMS  students to Chandigarh and Manali . The visit was for 8 days starting from 9th  February 2025 till 16th  February 2025..The Study tour was organized under the Leadership of Prof. Atul Mandale, Placement Head, SVIMS  with a team of faculty Members. The tour operator was Industrial Visits. The organizations covered under this visit were- Verka Milk Dairy, Chandigarh, and Birla Textile Mills, Baddi,Himachal Pradesh. Total of 131 students accompanied with 5 faculty members witnessed this tour.

The tour started on 9th  February 2024 where the students travelled from Mumbai to Chandigarh. In Chandigarh , the first company which students visited was Verka Milk Dairy, Chandigarh . The students saw the milk Products processing which was done through automated plants. The 2nd Factory was Birla Textile Mills, Baddi,Himachal Pradesh. The students watched the making of Thread through cotton. Overall it was a good learning experience.

Places of Leisure

Students got an amazing learning experience by visiting the companies. The trip ended peacefully with splendid visual and mental treat. At leisure they got a chance to visit Solange Valey, Sisu Valley in Manali, They also visited, Pinjaur Garden . In Manali they enjoyed a chilly evening at Mall road and had fun at Sisu Valley with a snow covered mountains and lands with adventure sports.

 

On 21st January 2025 both PGDM and MMS Batch visited BSE along with Professor Atul Mandale .The session provided insights into the functioning of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and how different equities fluctuate based on investor buying and selling activities. It covered key aspects of stock market operations, including price movements, market trends, and the role of demand and supply in equity valuation. The session, which lasted for an hour, was purely informative, offering students a better understanding of stock market dynamics without any hands-on trading.

Overview

The World Trade Expo 2024, held at the World Trade Center Mumbai, provided a unique platform for students from SVIMS Business School to explore global trade dynamics. The event featured participation from various international embassies including Ethiopia, Ghana, Basque, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Belarus, and Malaysia, along with notable Indian institutions like NABARD and MSME.

The visit was highly beneficial for MMS/PGDM students across various management specializations. Domestic Industrial Visit  organised by SVIMS

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research organized a domestic Industrial Visit for MMS  for Northern part of India. The visit was for 8 days starting from 22nd February 2024 till 29th February 2024.The Study tour was organized under the Leadership of Prof. Atul Mandale, Placement Head, SVIMS  with a team of faculty Members. The tour operator was Industrial Visits. The organizations covered under this visit were- Mother Dairy, Delhi, Yakult, Sonipat, Golden Rolls, Sonipat. Total of 97 students accompanied with 3 faculty members witnessed this tour.

The tour started on 22nd February 2024 where the students travelled from Mumbai to Delhi. In Delhi , the first company which students visited was Mother Dairy located at Patparganj close to Delhi UP border. The students saw the milk processing which was done through automated plants. The 2nd Factory was Yakult, Sonipat. The students watched the making of Yakult probiotics and also the manufacturing of bottles for the content. The 3rd factory was Golden Rings which was located at Sonipat. The Plant manufactures rubber mounted Aluminium rolls used for the rice de-husking plants. The students saw how the zero wastage plants works also they studied some part of Factories Act too. Overall it was a good learning experience.

Places of Leisure

Students got an amazing learning experience by visiting the companies. The trip ended peacefully with splendid visual and mental treat. At leisure they got a chance to visit Qutab Minar, India Gate in Delhi , They also visited, Sukhna Lake, Pinjaur Garden and Rock Garden. In Shimla they enjoyed a chilly evening at Mall road and had fun at Kufri with a mild snowfall with adventure sports and thrilling pony ride.

On 13th April 2023 both PGDM and MMS Batch visited BSE and Monetary museum.95 students in batches of 3 did the study visit with BSE along with Professor Arti Modi and Mr Pratik Sawant. The students were very enthusiastic and enjoyed the Industrial Visit thoroughly. They got good knowledge about Capital markets and it’s working .Dr. Aditya Srinivas form the BSE stock brokers forum spoke about the different kinds of brokers., the emergence of the exchange and the impact of various economic events on the capital markets. The students were also shown the live terminal and its understanding. The importance of investing was highlighted to them and the role that investments in wealth creation was emphasized.

The students also visited the RBI Monetary museum where they were shown the video of evolution of money and the barter trades. The were also exposed to the way coins were minted and the modern ways of issuing currencies .

A batch of 40 students of MMS 1st year (2022-24 batch) visited State Bank of India, Corporate Head Office, Nariman Point, Mumbai on 23rd February 2023 at their invitation. The students were accompanied by Prof G. Mani & Dr Priyanka Dukhande. SBI had arranged for to and fro transportation of the students. Dr L. Ramanathan, Dy. Manager SBI was instrumental in coordinating this activity.

The students were given an opportunity to put questions to  Shri Pawan Kedia, Chief General Manager (HR), Shri Shekhar Shukla, General Manager (OL &CS), Dr P C Saboo, General Manager (CC & M) and Shri Prakash C Baror, Dy. General Manager (M & C). These top management officials explained the various activities of SBI to the students. There was an AV presentation about SBI.

The event also included a visit to the CAFESTORIA of SBI, which is a rich repository of many exhibits that trace the history of SBI from its inception till date. The students evinced keen interest in the exhibits displayed in the CAFESTORIA. Prof G Mani thanked the SBI officials for providing this opportunity that enabled the students to enjoy the visit, the hospitality extended and learning experience gained by the students.

Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies and Research had organised a one day visit to the securities and exchange board of India (SEBI), the regulator for securities market owned by Government of India .The students of MMS (Finance)Part II and PGDM Part I were the part of the visit organised on 4th October,2019.Around 58 students were part of this visit – 9 students from MMS and 49 from PGDM.

Mr.BalKishorMandal, Assistant General Manager, Jurisdiction Department at SEBI expounded on  the insights of securities market, its functions and role of regulatory body on industries,  investors, exchanges, etc. He explained about numerous departments functional in SEBI like Corporate Finance, legal affairs, Investment Management, etc.He also guided on the career options in SEBI and the process of selection.

Mr.BalKishorMandal, explained  the working of SEBI and also briefed us about ISCO- Laws and Principles on which the securities market work. The session emphasized various Investment avenues and its pros and cons, working of stock exchanges and various rules and regulations of SEBI, various job profiles for MBA finance students and the requirements for recruitment at SEBI.

The purpose of the visit was to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The students get an opportunity to learn in-depth knowledge on the regulatory body. SEBI has taken this initiative to create awareness on numerous financial products amongst the students.

The main objective behind the visit was to also explain about the important role that SEBI plays as the regulator and protector for investors. The visit gave students a fasciniating insight into the workings and dynamics of the securities market.

The students of Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies and Research extend their heartiest thanks to SEBI for making  our day valuable. Special thanks to the  institute for sharing the information and guiding us about the working of SEBI and making this visit happen.

A one day Visit for Finance students – MMS (IInd year), PGDM (IInd Year) & PGDM – B&FS was arranged by our Institute at National Institute of Securities Market (NISM), Patalganga Campus. About 45 students participated in the workshop. The workshop was a rewarding experience for the students.

In the first session, Ms. Harshita narrated various careers in the Capital Market. She explained the various certification courses offered by NISM which are well-recognized by the Industry.

In the second half, Mr. Pradeep Panda conducted a workshop that helped the students in gaining knowledge about the basics of stock market and the technical & practical skills required to become a successful trader/investor.

The best thing about the workshop was the simulation exercise on stock trading with virtual money by the students in the Trading Lab. A certification of participation was given to the participants.
